Viennese fortepiano by Charles Lemme, Braushschweig, 1796

An exceptionally rare fortepiano by Charles Lemme.  Lemme originally worked in Braunschweig before moving to Paris, where he worked with Pleyel for a short time.   The workmanship of his instruments is renown.

A number of square pianos by Lemme still survive,  but this is the only grand we have ever seen, and it is a very early example by this important maker
